Story Time

Take Home Storytimes 

Starting with our Winter 2018 storytimes, we will have related "Take Home Storytime" handouts available for our Story Garden and Stories for Twos sessions. These worksheets detail some of the stories, rhymes, and songs we offered as well as additional book suggestions and an activity to build fine motor skills to help prepare your child for writing. You can also find each Take Home Storytime sheet on this page if you missed storytime or have misplaced your handout. 

Story Garden:

Registration for spring story times will begin on
Monday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m. Story time

Story Garden (ages 3-5)

Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

March 13, 20, 27, April 3, 10, 24, and May 1   

Children are invited to have some fun while sharing some of Miss Jenn’s favorite stories, songs, and games every week.                            

Stories for Twos  (ages 24-36 months)

Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.   

March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11, 25, and May 2 

Laugh, create, and connect with new and old friends, while listening to stories and enjoying related activities with Miss Patty.   

Bouncy Babies  (ages 0-24 months)

Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

March 15, 22, 29, April 5, 12, 26, and May 3 

This introduction to story time provides important bonding time and early literacy skills through stories, songs, games and playtime with new friends.   

Stories and STEAM

Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.    

March 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11, 25, and May 2 

Story time with a twist! We’ll hear a story and then engage in science, art, and technology activities based on the themes in the book. This evening program is best suited for kids in grades K-2, though siblings are always welcome.



Portland Library Children’s Department Weather Policy


Portland Library adheres to the following weather policy in regard to our scheduled programs.

If Portland Public Schools have a delayed opening or are closed for the day due to inclement weather, we will NOT run morning storytimes. Afternoon and evening programs will be decided on an individual basis that day, and registered participants will be contacted in advance if the program will be cancelled.
